Time to “Fall” back into our schedule again after taking the summer off to get some harvesting done. Farm work never takes a break!!

Our first meeting was on Monday, September 9th at Farm Credit in Salem. I thank the many members who attended. It is always fun to visit with you all and set the stage for the upcoming year.

Sunday, October 27th we will host our “Harvest Breakfast” at St. Boniface Parish Hall, 375 SE Church St., Sublimity from 8 am to 12 noon.

Menu: Sausage, eggs, hash browns, toast, fruit, juice and coffee.

Please come and support your fellow Oregon Women for Agriculture.

Thank you Rita Doerfler for your involvement with ordering 60 of the new edition of Get Oregonized textbooks and 3 teacher guides for Robert Frost School in Silverton, which has 3 classrooms of 4th grade students. This is a great contribution to our students and teachers.

We have several members going to the National Convention in New York in November. Oregon will be greatly represented. Thank you Ladies.

Our next meeting will be on Monday, October 14th at 12 noon-1pm at Farm Credit in Salem. Bring your lunch.

God Bless the farmers.

The Ladies in Marion/Clackamas Counties have been busy! Not only with their own farm chores but also with their County chores!

We had ten ladies from our county attend the Oregon Women for Agriculture yearly Convention at Salishan in Lincoln City on March 8th & 9th. What a great convention and quality time with fellow OWA members and the chance to meet president Karen Yost  of American Agri-Women.

Within our chapter we are gearing up for the Annual Auction & Dinner on April 20th. Everyone has been asked to donate a bottle of Oregon wine to our new event within the the auction. Please contact me and I will be happy to come pick up your donation or you can deliver it to Farm Services in Salem.

Another great activity is being planned and that is Ag Safety Day at Elam Farms.  Wendy needs volunteers to help with the students that will be coming from the Santiam and Aumsville, Turner School Districts.

The Classroom Reading program is in full swing! Thank you Sara Burr, Darlene Bryant and Fran Hendricks for volunteering your time and talents to this great project.

A heartfelt Thank You goes out to Norma Jean Fordyce for the many years as our M/C treasurer. Norma Jean requested to retire from this position and we have been blessed to have Lindsay, who so graciously accepted the position of treasurer. Lindsay and her husband own and operate the Rae Brewing in Salem and Lindsey works at Key Bank in the Ag department.

Lauren Olsen was elected as our Vice President, Nancy Fisher as our secretary and myself, Kimberly Zuber accepted to be their president once again.

Thank you goes out to each and every member of M/C for your support and dedication to Oregon Women for Agriculture.

Our chapter meets on the second Monday of each month September thru June at 12 noon to 1 pm in the Farm Service Building, behind Costco or unless posted in our monthly newsletter or facebook page.  New members are always welcome!

Wishing you all a Blessed Easter,
Kimberly Zuber

Marion/Clackamas & Polk counties hosted a Christmas Social on Monday, December 10th at Jonathan’s in Downtown Salem for members and their spouses. Members were encouraged to bring donations of canned food or cash to be given to the Marion/Polk Food Share. We had a great time! Jonathan’s prepared some great appetizers for us and Tiffany Marx brought door prizes to give away through out the evening. Thank you all who attended.

Our next M/C meeting will be on Monday, January 14th at 12 noon at Farm Credit in Salem. Bring your lunch and join us! And, on the same Monday, January 14th at 6 pm, M/C will be hosting OWA’s Auction meeting at the Farm Credit office in Salem. Dinner will be provided.

A BIG Thank You goes out to my VP-Lauren Olson for all her hard work in helping me throughout this last year, and to Darlene Bryant for keeping me informed and to Norma Jean Fordyce and Nancy Fisher for assisting me all year long.

Looking forward to another great year!

-Kimberly Zuber, President, Marion/Clackamas
